D-Wade’s Divorce Getting Ugly 0

Remember that divorce that Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade wanted to keep private? Well, it just got public. And really, really ugly.

Wade’s wife Siohvaughn, his high school sweetheart, now alleges that he abandoned their two children, committed adultery, and infected her with a sexually transmitted disease. In recently disclosed discovery documents, Siohvaughn asked Wade to identify ”all of his sexual partners” during their six-year marriage. Court records indicate a flurry of activity in the case over the last two months, including, apparently, arguments over requests like that one.

Wade’s attorney, James Pritikin, took the time to issue a statement, arguing that “[t]hese malicious allegations are absolutely false and we look forward to the opportunity to dispute them in court.”

Siohvaughn also has alleged that Wade “dissipated substantial sums of marital property including . . . buying his mother a $2 million church; placing substantial sums of money in an account with another woman; providing numerous friends and family members with unfettered access to accounts with hundreds of thousands of dollars of marital funds from which they made substantial withdrawals . . .”, while cutting her off financially.

She says that he has gone ”months” without seeing his sons including an 18 month old who, Siohvaughn says, does not recognize or know his father. She is seeking sole custody of the kids.

Although I haven’t seen the counter-petition filed by Siohvaughn by her divorce attorneys Michael Berger and Dorene Marcus, it appears that she is seeking to recover damages from Wade and his “paramour or paramours” for the STD. Reports indicate that she claims to have suffered ”grievous physical, emotional and mental injury” from the STD, diagnosed in late 2007. And that her husband and his girlfriends are liable for those damages.  Any such damages would be separate from a division of marital property in the divorce.

Wade’s attorney says that Siohvaughn is angry and bitter.  Siohvaughn’s attorneys say that she is prepared to prove her allegations and that her medical records will back her up.
